ZIPping files before downloading Is it possible to zip the files before I download them? sdani msg:954642 8:17 pm on May 16, 2004 (gmt 0) I create about 1000 files every day on my server. I usually download all the files in the evening and remove them from the server.
I don't have telnet access to this server and I use FTP to download the files.
Is there a way to zip / combine all these files in one file before downloading to my local machine?
This shared hosting account is on .NET server.

There might be a way in the .NET framework, but I don't know about that.
I'm going to move your post over to Microsoft to see if someone there knows more about it.

I think if you do a google for .net zip library there are a few free ones plus there is a .NET zip library on sourceforge I think. You could write a web app that zips the files you need and does a http download in the usual way (set the mime type, response.writefile, etc)?

you could always put infozip on your server, write a .bat and run a scheduled task (on the .bat) to zip everything up...
works for us

Are you able to run schedule task using BAT file on a shared account?
