Hello everyone this is my first post. I am using Fireworks and Dreamweaver to try to update my site. My goal is to create a simple template for my site so it will be easier to update and apply changes in the future. I designed a cool navigation menu in fireworks along with a header and footer. I wanted this to be my template. I copied the html and pasted into a new Dreamweaver document. Then I save as a template. It works great but I have run into a problem. When I paste it into dreamweaver it creates a table which is fine except when I want to add content to the center of the page it is proving difficult. It won't let me put a table or cell in the center. I can put a layer and that does work except the layer doesn't center properly in different screen resolutions. The table centers fine. I have done some research and found out that by changing the top and left margins of a layer it will stay in the correct position relative to the top and left side of the browser window. However I would like not use layers at all. I found a Dreamweaver extension that does the same thing with javascript however I would like not to use javascript. I feel like I'm overlooking something. My latest idea is to just design every page in Fireworks and then export html to Dreamweaver and this would work to a certain extent however it defeats my hope to make a template. The bottom line is a can't figure out how to edit the center of my template page because there is always a table there and it won't let me.
I would greatly appreciate any advice.
Thanks!
Smoky
p.s. could exporting my fireworks to CSS help?
