Hi,
I am using FP2002 if you are using something else your milage may vary. When you click on new page and then look at the html it should look like this.

<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<title>New Page 1</title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
When you type in normal mode the text goes between the two body tags.
If it does not look like this then sometime is wrong in your setup or installation.
BTW you can get the software to leave out the generator and progid tag if you dive in to the option settings
