software to multi replace text on a large number of pages?

I am working on a site that I need to mass change some things in the layout but cant find software to do it.

I tried multireplace and it hangs at loading
I tried Advanced Find and Replace and it keep going all night then froze..

The site has a large number of static html pages that I need to update. (over 10,000)

any suggestions on software that could tackle this?

Are you on a Mac or a PC?

I use a Mac and for this kind of thing BBEdit Lite works for me, or TextWrangler...you can do a find/replace on a folder of files. I use it all the time.

On the PC I am not sure but there must be some equivalent program...notepad maybe?
