When trying to edit and save website files on my hard drive, I get 'an error occurred accessing your frontpage web files'

Anyone have any ideas on this one please?

In FP2003 on win xp pro.

Any help much appreciated.

Dex.

I used to see this happen a lot on older copies of FP. I would usually try these steps:
  • Recalculate Hyperlinks
  • Restart IIS
  • Recalculate Webs
  • Check Server Extensions

If that doesn't work try a Detect and Repair... from the tools menu.

Another trick that sometimes worked was to publish a blank web to the same area. Don't publish over the web though. That gets FP re-associated with the folder where you have your webs locally.

Hi Bill,

Many thanks for helping on this problem, it's appreciated.

I'm trying to keep all hyperlinks as absolute, would recalculating hyperlinks change them to relative?

Restart IIS - How do I do that please?

Recalculate Webs - How do I do that please?

Check Server Extensions - I don't have any fp server extensions installed at the hosts.

If that doesn't work try a Detect and Repair... from the tools menu. Did that one already.

Another trick that sometimes worked was to publish a blank web to the same area. Don't publish over the web though. That gets FP re-associated with the folder where you have your webs locally.

I always work on the hard drive and then publish up to the web with a separate ftp program - are you saying to publish a blank page on the web?

Dexie.
