Cable broadband wireless with just 1 laptop
How do I set up my network

 10:26 am on May 16, 2005 (gmt 0)

Ok, I'm new to this but assured it will work.

I have telewest broadband and only a laptop. I bought a wireless router and a PCIMA card for my laptop.

Can anyone tell me exactly hoe I can set up a wireless network cos all I get at the moment is a connection to the router with an excellent signal but I can't get online.

What IP addresses gateways etc do I need to input?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld uggers37.

You need to set up the wireless router to see your ISP first. If it can't see the Internet then you're not going to get anywhere. Your ISP should have provided all of the necessary IP addresses and passwords.

Cheers Bill, but Telewest aren't keen on giving that info cos it's not one of their routers

Any suggestions?

Did you have your PC connected to the net before getting this router? It's the same information used there that you use with the router. All you need is your basic account setup info...you plug that into the appropriate places in the router Admin screens. Many routers even have wizards that will walk you through the process.
