Verisign Goes Wireless...
...with a numeric RealNames-type scheme???

Verisign has come up with an odd little numeric-to-URL scheme supposedly making wireless/cell phone web surfing easier on the user:

[thestreet.com...]

But with PDAs [handspring.com] and cell phones [nokia.com] getting closer together all the time, has Verisign already missed the boat? My first impulse is to say, "Yes."

I think that they are just taking a step backwards. This reminds me of addressing a website by the IP Address.

Verdict: Doomed

My guess as to the future - speech recognition software to allow wireless device to accept input more easily.
