I have a laptop with a wireless pcmcia card and a wireless pda. my laptop connects to the web via a standard dial up connection.

can i create a wireless network to share the internet connection between my laptop and pda?

No. The pcmcia card can not act as a wireless access point for the PDA.

Check out linksys and the WAP54G Wireless. You'll need to plug it into your laptop though (another pcmcia card). There might be smarter solutions, but that is one approach.

Yes it can. Set up an Ad Hoc network between the two. You then need to set up the desktop to be a router or have a proxy server set up.

I stand corrected. Good catch.
