For eg: I would expose my mobile to a song and the tune will be generated automatically. I understand that, I need to write some software to generate the appropriate codes for the ring tone. If I'm not wrong, some mobiles do provide a recorder. Can that be used to get the song and then convert it to equivalent ring tone? Thanking in anticipation. -Manish.

In other words, this software will be embedded into mobile and create ring tones for that mobile. Hence, it needs to have some hardware as well for recording tones. Wanted to know the feasibility of doing this and is there any mobile which allows to record songs or sounds. -Manish.

Page 9 item 2.6 "Nokia's first MMAPI-enabled MIDP phones don't support recording of either sound or video, so recording isn't yet covered in this example."
