One of my sites is a travel guide with a phrasebook section comprising several pages on different topics, each of which has English and French in a two-column table format. There is a main menu page and then several pages one level down.

Is there any way of charging a token amount to download the phrasebook section as a little app for a PDA? What software do you need to transform HTML pages to something that can be read on a PDA? I really don't know anything about this, except that an authentic phrasebook on your PDA might be a handy thing.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like two different questions:

Is there any way of charging a token amount to download the phrasebook section as a little app for a PDA?

I think you're referring to something like Pico Pay [pico-pay.com]. They have the idea down, but the delivery could use a little cleaning up. Note: You can sign up and use it now, but you won't make any money off of them, it's a demo.

What software do you need to transform HTML pages to something that can be read on a PDA?

Take a peak at Palm Digital Media [palmdigitalmedia.com].

More info:

The amount of content is just a few kB on text-only pages with a logo at the bottom. I'd be looking to charge perhaps up to about $5 at first, maybe more later when the content builds up. I have about ten pages at present covering various things like 'at the restaurant', 'at the doctor' etc. and regular traffic from search engines to the phrasebook.
