Looking for a copywriter
Where to find a good one

 2:31 pm on Sep 6, 2004 (gmt 0)

I am looking to find a good copywriter who has experience of writing copy for online use, not offline. Where do you find these sorts of people and how much do they charge?

What I want them to do is change existing copy on the website with the hope of increasing conversion!

Any and all advice greatly appreciated!

I use Elance - excellent choice of online copywriters and I often find one with direct experience of the subject matter. You get to see a portfolio and their feedback rating etc. before you commit.

I second Georgeek. Elance is a great source for all your website needs but if you go that route, I would definitely not hire a new seller. Stick to the ones who have been around for awhile and have a solid work history and feedback. I have gotten burnt twice by new sellers that didn't deliver and then had there profiles removed. A lot of “new sellers” are really old sellers that got booted off Elance and they just sign up under a new profile.

The price is usually very reasonable. I had one writer charge as little as $10.00 per page up to 500 words.

Good luck.
