Why do you write?
Simple question: Why do you write?

I write because I want to make the world a little better.

I write to defend or advocate for others.

I write because I have something to say.

I write because I like to see people laugh or smile, so if possible I write to make people laugh.

I write to help or to enable people: To clarify, make something complex simple, to teach so that people can do things for themselves, be safer, maybe even happier.

I write as an expression of love: I love this world, the possibilities and beauty of it. I write because I remain hopeful that we all might just somehow manage to get along without killing or hating each other, or allowing needless suffering to persist, or that we might manage our ecosystem in such a way that equilibrium is maintained without having to suffer through global cataclysms.

I write because when I write I am. I am myself. I create myself. I express myself. Some part of me reaches out to the world and possibly touches the world, and maybe a small ripple spreads.

Why do you write?

To encourage and support women.

To help me go to sleep at night (mostly morning).

To stop my racing thoughts. (NASCAR, anyone?)

I write content to make you money.

I write content to make me money.

I write emails because they're easy.

I write IM's when I'm bored.

I write shopping lists when I'm really bored.

I write webmasterworld posts to be famous.

Someday.

I write because:

1. I like it and it allows me to expore different areas of life.
2. Copywriting is easy for me and I make a great deal of money doing it.
3. I love Journalism.

I don't write warm and fuzzy fiction or poety. ;)

I think, therefore I am! (René Descartes - brilliant French Philosopher)

I write to prove I think! (Liane) :)

Cool post,

I write to help people accomplish worthy ends.

I write because it is currently one of the most powerful methods at my disposal of helping my fellow man, and by extension helping myself.

I write because it brings me closer to my immediate goals.

I write because it makes me feel good.

>I write to prove I think!

I like that one!

I write to educate, often myself many years later!

If I were as wise 20/40 years ago as I am now, life would have been very different. I only know this because I can read what I wrote 20 years ago today :)

I mainly write for prosperity :)

I don't claim to be a writer, but I write to my community forum to entice folks with my background to record for prosperity what has gone before - nostalgia is such a magnet. So I write to extract anecdotes that would be otherwise lost.

I write because I have ideas spinning around in my head, that I need to let out.

I write because I have something to say, hopefully something that'll make people laugh, or think hard about a topic, or look at something good they might otherwise overlook.

I write because it makes me money ... and it's a lot easier than 'manual labor'. No pun intended :)

A twist - if allowed...

I rarely write but have commissioned writers - the great and the good included - for years. So, with a bit of indulgence on your part...

Why do I work with you?

Because you can impart specialist knowledge to my readers.

Because you can entertain my readers.

Because you can give an authoritative opinion.

Because your opinion IS authoritative.

Because you make complicated issues clear.

Because you understand 'my' audience better than I do.

Because I trust you.

I write to make a statement, to share my thoughts, to express myself and finally to make a living!

I write because I enjoy it, and it's one way to think through an issue. When I write about something, I find I often clarify my ideas on the subject or come up with new insights.

I write because I want to share my ideas.
I write because because it forces me to think.
I write because it's a good way of learning English.
I write because written text can be saved and used by anyone who has access to the internet.
I write because I want to produce something that might last longer than myself.
