lib's can't find each other

I am sure that this install could be done in 30 minutes by someone who knows what they are doing. I have been at it for about 5 hours :)

I have used tar.gz files for all the lib's and plugins. Now I get this error when I run the program.

libdvdread:Can't open libdvdcss:libdvdcss.so.0; can't open shared object file: No such file or directory.

I have added the directory to the ld.so.conf file but for some reason it cant find it.

Any help as to what to do next would be great.

Thanks
David

You probably already did this, but after you change ld.so.conf, you have to run 'ldconfig' to read it and make the cache.
Just one of the million things it could be.

David, I know you are determine to compile everything but it sure was easy to use the RPMs. I spent 5 hours trying to compile and run Xine too and then gave up. I used the RPMs from rpmfind and I had it up and running in 15 minutes.

If I give up and use the RPM's.

What do you do about the files that have been compiled?

Did you have to install the navdvd plugin seperately ?

I deleted them.

:) I don't have a dvd player. I use Xine to view DivX format and image capturing.

You are using RH 7.2 right?
This link [seawolf.freshrpms.net] should help you.

Well I finaly broke down and, installed the Lib's with rpm's and it works :)

It does a nice job of playing DVD's. Nice GUI also. I went ahead and installed the Ogle player also (RPM's), Xine looks better.

Now it looks like the sound on my board is not working under Linux. First thing I have used it for. I have sound just no volume.
