Dear PPl, i have been noticing for a while that algorithms of alltheweb and altavista are a bit stuffed.
FOr example on purpose i registered keyword--keyword.com and it has over 20,000 links to alltheweb and 500 to altavista.
These arnt of course real links just a problem with the algorithm.

So you know if you do a link popularity for keyword--keyword.com and keyword-keyword.com , they have if not the same popularity for alltheweb and altavista.

Im not sure whether this would give more relevancy in terms of a web site, but its very strange.

Anyone know about?

Hi penfold25, welcome to the board

Looks like the double hyphen does not get properly treated in the link commands at search engines.

Dear Heini, yep you are probably right, but guess what, certain domains do get treated differently even with just one dash, example com-keyword.com , certain combinations give tremendous results in altavista and alltheweb, so the problem extends even more then double hyphen.

>certain combinations give tremendous results
I doubt very much that what you see shown as backlinks has any influence on rankings though. In other words, those results are humbug.

Maybe they just dont have the number of inbound links. Plain and simple, there are more sites that link to one of them?
