Alltheweb.com has a Title Bug

 2:51 pm on Jan 12, 2003 (gmt 0)

All the web has a title bug, it has eaten my 1st character in my title, which is a $ character.

Since I repeat my title at the beginning of my page, the bug ate it as well.

But other $ occurance in the page. I think the bug is full. :)

Hi James from a fellow Petronas tower city resident!

Quickest fix is to change your title.

This may not be a bug but a feature.

How would a title with a $ in the front be usful and descriptive, though maybe some companies can trademark a name like $wise or something like that?

Ive seen page titles often starting with a special character or a number or AAAAblah. Almost all (and im sure not yours) were to get listed first in directories and such. So you may be being penalised for the sneakiness and smartypantsness of others.

Of course there are other explanations as well, so will keep checking this thread.. especially why its being deleted elsewhere on the page.

But alltheweb isn't a directory who display results base on ASCII, so they have no reasons why they should delete the $ key!

There are so many titles that use something along the lines of $$$$$$ Here Now, Cheap $$$$, that they decided to filter off the $ char. (can't say as I blame them).
