Something strange with Fast!
Backward links are shown but not the site itself...

 8:15 am on Mar 28, 2002 (gmt 0)

I have noticed something strange with my (still to be listed) site on Fast. If I search for the domain - www.mydomain.com - I am given the Url of a small regional search engine that has linked to my site but the Url of my site itself is not listed. When I ask Fast to "Find links to: www.mydomain.com" it shows me that there are 298 sites linking to mine in the database.

It seems strange to me, I would appreceiate any ideas as to why this should be.

Press F5 10 times and see if your site appears, it could also be that they had troubles when they spidered your site. If that was the case don't worry, they will include it again, and it wont take long.

Hello Salmo - welcome to wmw

>regional search engine

Do you happen to share IP?

I do share an IP. In fact I had asked about this issue in a forum a few weeks back as it was a concern of mine. I am still considering whether it would be worthwhile getting a unique IP address for this domain. From your question I take it that you do believe that it is important?

salmo what I meant is if you share IP with that SE.
Generally close association between sites, like link exchanging programmes, in conjunction with seoing, might be problematic with the latest efforts to crackdown on spam by major SEs.

Sorry, I misunderstood. The answer would be no, there is no association whatsoever between the two sites apart from that link (which is reciprocal!!). My site is well ranked on Google for my main keywords (#3), it was designed from the start to comply with with Google's requirements which includes no cross linking etc so I would be surprised if this were the cause.
