Anything to do but submit?

Hello, I've read through many threads in the Fast/Lycos/AlltheWeb discussions, and can't find anything specific about getting included, or better ranking - is there anything to do except submit on the Alltheweb site? And I guess try to build links to my site?

Fast has been redoing their technology, and in a week or two, after an update, it should be a little clearer.

youŽll find some hints in this thread

Generally Fast's algo is not explored as much as Google's. Many members have reported success with simple straightforward optimization: good sensible KW placement, solid linking.
As to inclusion: Fast has aggregated a huge db by now, having spidered extensively. With the latest update however I'm under the impression deepindexing has not happened as before for many sites. This may be corrected with the announced next update, it may also be in preparation of Fast's PFI programme.

Fast, from MY experience is similar to AltaVista and they place a great deal of weight on the index page.
