Fast's ranking criteria and penalties

 6:25 pm on Sep 11, 2001 (gmt 0)

Several months ago our Maui vacation rental site was demoted from #8 to #168 on Fast, for our major keyword phrase. In the meantime I have optimised our homepage but haven't managed to improve ranking. Our site is doing pretty well on all the other s.e's - especially Google - ANY IDEAS? N.B. We do have lots of links to our site from high-ranking rental websites such as the Maui Visitors Bureau, which is why we do well on Google.

Fast seem pretty hot on penalising any kind of spam - doorway pages, cloaking etc when they find it.

If you have cleaned up your site and do not have any of these things in place I would email them and ask why you were demoted and tell them that no doorways and cloaking is now being done.

All the best

Thanks for your input, Ian. My description at the top of the website was written in font 8, which isn't tiny and it wasn't cloaked. But I will email Fast anyway. I can't think why else our site would have been so radically demoted!

namniboose, if it was just a normal and visible description of the page than I doubt that this was the reason. You know better... It may be better to search a bit more for possible reasons before contacting them...
