How does stat software record a link coming from a website linked to you through a new browser window. By my stats it appears it is being recorded as a "no referrer" visit.
Am I correct?

Right. No referrer. The source website has to have a parameter or something else in your URL that will identify that URL as coming from them.

It can be a lot easier than that, assuming these are affiliates with a reason for cooperating with you. Just ask them to change the HREF link on their site from "http://www.yoursite.com/appropriatepage.asp?parameter=whatever" to "http://www.yoursite.com/appropriatepage.asp?parameter=whatever&source=affiliatesitename"

Those hits will show up like that in your logs and, assuming your tracking program can cope with parameters, you'll have what you want. I think.
