|Browser Cache on Graphic Layouts|
How many times are the same images downloaded?

This is a straight forward question, but one that I have never asked in 6 years so I still dont know.
When you have a layout with graphics lets say 1 graphic at the top of the screen on every page, then another graphic which is the background for various things.
How many times are the graphics downloaded from the webserver (bandwidth used).
I would think that both graphics get downloaded each once, then it gets cahced and used. Then it depends on how often the cache is cleared...
Is this correct?

I would say yes; if your images are in the users cache it will not download them again, if the cache is cleared it fetches from the server again..

Correct. This is the default setting for most browsers but you can change the default to re-read the entire page everytime you visit in IE for instance.
