directory submission penalty?

Hi,

I recently had a site disappear completely from Yahoo (site:domain.com = nothing). There was no questionable content or linkage of any sort. However, I wrongly submitted under the free directory submission for the yahoo directory (didn't realize at the time that all ecommerce sites had to pay). I showed up in yahoo serps for a while and then just disappeared completely.

Could this be because of my submission error? I can't think of anything else. I'm also affraid to try the $300 submission because my site might be automatically blacklisted or something and it seems I have no way to find out...

Pretty new - About 1 month. It's just that the site used to show up for at least one key phrase (not very well, was on page 5 for a very specific search about a week after launch).
