I have been running my web site for over 2 years now. Initially I submitted a very poor web site to Yahoo!, and was (amazingly) never listed. I waited another 8 months before re-submitting, with major changes in content, style, compatibility, and over-all usability of my site. I have won dozens of awards, am linked heavily throughtout the internet, and have high rankings in several human-edited directories (not naming names, although most of you probably know me from one... :-P)
My question is this... Does Yahoo! keep a blacklist of sites that they feel have wasted their time, over-submitted, or done anything else they felt inappropriate? I have only submitted 3 or 4 times since then, but even when e-mailing them to ask for a status on my submission they don't respond. I have other sites listed in Yahoo that have less content than my main one, so I'd just like to know if I should still even bother...
I had a similiar thing happen with a site I sent to Yahoo. Eventually, it did get listed, so I don't believe that they do keep a blacklist except perhaps where someone *really* drove them crazy.
I would also suggest writing a very killer, very generic description for Yahoo. It takes an act of God to change anything once it is in the index, so you want a description that can change with the times.
