First of all I'm surprised that there have not been any reactions to this post. Are we all asleep??
It's in the interest of everyone to either phone or e-mail through customer support and say that this is totally unacceptable. I'm heading there now and to one of the other forums to post it. What a load of s....
Are PaidforSurf.com users incentivized to search and click on the listings?
Interesting to note that the search results are "powered by Everyone.net". My guess is that PaidforSurf has tied up with Everyone.net (which in turn is a Overture partner - guessing again) and is compensated for searches carried out by PaidforSurf members.
I believe that the only way Overture is going to clean up their act is for there to be a class action suit brought against them. I just had yet another keyword dropped which is directly related to my business because I was not generating enough revenue for Overture. I have asked for a signed, hard-copy explaining this action to be sent to me. When asked why an electronic copy was not good enough I explained that I needed something that I could present to a Court.
Here is a copy of the e-mail we just submitted through customer service:
"We have just discovered that the company "PaidForSearch.com" is using our Overture listings. This is totally unacceptable and we request that this type of search use be eliminated as quickly as possible. This perhaps explains the unusual activity in the "tropical islands" search term a few weeks ago that you sluffed off and has now returned to normal. We have been Overture clients since the very beginning however this is a low route to take to boost searches."
Please, it's important for every Over advertiser to let them know that this is not right.
I don't think that we're all asleep. I checked the paidforsurf site as soon as the first post appeared. When you look at the site, people are paid for the amount of time they're on line. There's no incentive for them to click on search listings, it looks like paidforsurf have simply used overture as their on site search engine just as many other Overture affilates have done.
As for paidforsurf, I suspect that within 6 months it will be another business model littering the floor of failed-dotcom house.
We just received an e-mail from Over customer service saying that the results were from FindWhat not Over. When we checked the same search term the results from here, Venezuela, are definitely Over (Indicated as GoTo). They are obviously filtering out the search requests from Over or the US. Please anyone in the US let us know if you are seeing Over results. I just read the FAQ's at the PFS site and here is part of it. They are installing a search bar and then paying people to use it. In order to find out more I would have to register however I can't believe they would pay you until you start clicking on sites.
[Please paraphrase the explanation]
