GoTo wants the whole pie!
Inktomi listings no longer showing up after paid listings.

I just saw something very interesting on GoTo. If you do a search for something they no longer list the Inktomi listings after the paid listings like they used to. If you do a search for a term with no paid listings they give a "Sorry, no matching search listings found" page. They do, however, still have the Inktomi logo on the bottom of the page so this could be a temporary glitch. It appears they don't want people going to the Inktomi pages at all but only to their paid listings. Are they assuming if a person can't find suitable results from one search they will try another search and not go to another engine to try the original search? Or do they feel like they have enough other engines in their pocket that if someone does go somewhere else they will still find GoTo's listings? Very interesting.

Looks to me to be temporary. I tried out a couple searches that retrurned results with no bids. I don't know that it would be such a big deal to loose Ink listings - I can't get in anyways ;)

It gets even more strange. Nearly all the computers in the office here don't show the Inktomi listings but 2 of them do. Did I cross over into the Twilight Zone? I sure am ready for the weekend.

It looks like everything is back to normal now. Must have been a temporary glitch. Either that or somebody spiked my Mountain Dew.

That happens every now and then. Tedster and I had a round of "I'm seeing such-and-such, but you're seeing WHAT?" on AV a few months ago. I wonder if all of your office machines are using the same browser?

I tried it on different browers and different operating systems and couldn't figure it out. Maybe I should start the weekend a few minutes early.

My guess is that they are shuffling Ink in and out to see if they get more clickthrus on paid listings without the Ink results. I've seen this numerous times over the past several months.

My guess is that they are shuffling Ink in and out to see if they really need to spend the money on INK. It may be a test that will end in some budget cutting to reduce the burn rate.
