Several of our members cover the Korea market, so I thought this might be of interest. I stumbled across the Google Korea blog [googlekoreablog.blogspot.com] the other day. Unfortunately my Korean language skills are somewhat limited, but there are a number of interesting photos there. I finally got to see the Google bus [googlekoreablog.blogspot.com] promotion that we discussed [webmasterworld.com] a little while back.

HA! Good catch Bill, should prove interesting for our Korea members. Hopefuly they can come back with a synopsis or two for us who are Korean-language-challenged.

As to the Google Bus, interesting that they painted it white, as white is associated with death in many Asian countries. I wonder if the association exists in Korea as well, and whether this could then be a huge gaff on the part of the Google people. Curious.

well, there was a tiny article about it a while ago but it didn't attract much attention. Most of Koreans will say Google who? With over 90% of broadband Internet connection, Google simple design is not a beauty but a boredom.

I kept thinking about Google everyday while I was in the US but now I never think about it until I come here...

yah..funny timing...just notied the blog yesterday myself. heh. Well, for those wondering, its all just self-advertising (if that wasn't really obvious). Someone from product team, engineer, marketing team, even users with intro and comments about google.

nothing really new there that you dont' see elsewhere, (explain about google products), except the bus/bus marketing event.

yes, it does. (family of deceased wears white at a funeal)...and I actually mentioned that in my other post about the bus a while back---when I did my own informal survey (ie: a few local korean colleages) and they all said it made em think about "hospital/funeral" and/or bus for ..."the committed". heh. ... That said, I also hear that those that have been on it loved the experience and its being well received.

that is, it seems to be overcoming the initial negative associations (once you take a ride).

still I'm surprised they went with a white bus in the first place given that association. I know, I know...corporate color branding....but still.

Could be a "as long as you remember it" its a good thing strategy. snort*
