Looksmart Australia dumps Inktomi as backfill
Hello Wisenut.

Did some searching on Looksmart Australia this morning and noticed they have dropped Inktomi results in favor of WiseNut results.

The change has also affected the results of GoEureka and OptusNet.

Looks like the Inktomi license was the first thing to get crossed off the budget since the MSN split.

This is an interesting find Keeper. Well Done. The Looksmart landscape looks a lot different now compared to a few months ago.

Ok, great. But they need to take the next step and update the Wisenut index. Their index is staler than a donut in the baker's trash can.

I just had a quick look and it looked good to me. It is more up to date than Google and seemed to have the balance right.

whats up skip,
How are you judging the freshness of the index? Have you seen a change?

I did a few searches that should have covered our site and it had even picked up and ranked quite high a few dynamic (php) pages that had not been up for long.

Still cannot understand why Ninemsn does not offer an option of Austrlian sites only. Many people do not want to know about UK and USA site first.

Again this is why Google is doing so well.

I just saw one hit from Wisenut on a site yesterday for the first time ever.

We had a few discussions here about a LS/Wisenut confab in Australia well over a year ago, so this is not totally unexpected.

Looks like they're also serving Yahoo and MSN search results in Australia, according to the logos on the bottom.

[looksmart.com.au...]

On one search I did there are individual pages from only two sites filling the entire first two pages - I didn't bother looking further.

Well that was over due. Looksmart said to me at SES Sydney that it would happen in 2002. Scuse the late post, been away from WebmasterWorld for a month or two.

Wisenut has been out spidering recently so perhaps they will start to use the resource, as they should have been over recent months.

The horse has bolted so all they gotta do is round it up.

Looks like there are two sets of results for WiseNut being used. Seeing different results on Wisenut/Looksmart.com/Looksmart.com.au for two completely unrelated sites
