Running a non-profit and a for-profit website

Would it be legally ok to have a non-profit website that provides a free service
example.org

and also have a for-profit website with the same domain name but just a .com ending
(example.com)

Of course it would, as long as trademarks etc are kept in mind.

I don't see any thing illegal to run a non-profit or profit site if you follow prevailing norms and ethics of online business.
