The State of Michigan treasury website might be a good place to start. www.michigan.gov/treasury Click "business" on the menu and you'll see a link entitled "Click here for information on starting a new business in Michigan and registration forms."

Find a reputable accountant. Go by word of mouth recommendation. Some charge a consulting fee to interview them, so be sure to clarify that before meeting them. An accountant will save you millions of headaches- even if you aren't profitable for the first year.

Try to find yourself a mentor. Someone who will listen to you and perhaps guide you wisely when things are not going to well. You simply cannot beat sympathetic and learned human with a message board. :)

Hi - I'm in Michigan and the treasury website is a good start. I can recommend an accountant - where are you going to move to?

I'm in the Grand Rapids area - wish I could help you with an accountant in your area, but I only know a few in GR and Detroit.
