May 16th and 17th changes - what happened?

 5:02 am on May 19, 2006 (gmt 0)

I noticed on the 16th and 17th that google results seemed to be dramatically different at least for my site and its sectors. Did anyone else notice this.

OK, I just found out from Google what happended on the 18th that sent all our sites sliding down the rankings again.

A secretary with a big butt stood up to stretch and her left butt cheeck bumped into one of Google's ranking control knobs, sending all our sites to the bottom of the heap, while the scraper sites who stole our content enjoy top ranking.

I'm seeing some May 16th/17th type results appearing on Google.com now. However when I browse to the IP shown when I mouseover the cached link,, I get the currently dominant resultset that is on most datacenters.

Anyone else seeing this?

When I ping www.google.com I get the following info:

C:\>ping www.l.google.com

Pinging www.l.google.com [] with 32 bytes of data:

The pinged IP address is changing every minute or so.

Has anyone recovered yet?
