Pardon my ignorance, but I just want to verify that when a site is in the sandbox, this isn't reflected on the site's PR, right? Furthermore, from what you're saying, it seems that it's possible for a site to re-enter the sandbox, meaning that the sandbox is not just for new sites? That's just great! P.S: Sorry it's just another question and I'm not able to provide an answer to your post....

Interesting to know that the sandbox not only apply to new sites and maybe applicable for old (> 1yr?) sites as well.

Remarkably similar to these "filter updates" that suddenly bury sites in the SERPS periodically, don't you think? Even sites that are PR5 and five years old. I've been accused of hijacking a sandbox thread when I've said this previously so I shall say no more.

What you are saying is probably true but this site was without doubt affected by the sandbox "effect" for more than 14 months. I rode it out until it was released a couple of months ago then I watched as traffic and rankings started to build up as I would have expected them too. I am not implying that it is back in the sandbox and I also think that I have just been unlucky in an update. It has happened before and it will happen again. There was a bit of discussion around this site in previous threads so I thought some of those who had participated previously were entitled to this feedback.
