We have anywhere from 1 to 10 sites a day link to our site and use bits and pieces of information on their site along with a link to our site. I appreciate that and all but I don't think these are legetimate sites when the majority of them have foreign country domain name extensionss. We've all seen them.

Question: How does it, if at all, effect link popularity and positioning on SERP's?

If that hurt a site in the serps we'd all be doomed.

As long as you don't link back to them there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks. Do you think there is anything I can do on the legal side of things. Not that it would necessarily have all that much of a big deal with them.
Wouldn't it be nice if there were a website that had these types of companies on it? it would be a blacklist of sorts from the Webmasterworld.

you are talking about scrapper sites. these sites are auto generated. search engine results for targetted keywords are scrapped and the serp's sites are linked to automatically to create keyword specific content.you may sometimes see a thumbnail of your site next to your link too :)

This has been rampantly done lately and the scrapping is usually done from diffrent IPs and difficult to block

I have many sites automatically adding our link to their sites and then asking for a reciprocal.

It has not affected our rankings.

Just don't link back to them.

Uh, no there is really nothing you can do, and if there was, the hours spent chasing people down would become a full time job.

Just concentrate on your site and what you are doing. The rest will take care of itself.
