Odd Symbols in Title
Wondering whether odd character encoding in your title affects placemen

I've noticed some sites with this ★ in there title on google listing I don't know how it will show up on the forum but in a title it's a black star which is quite nice in terms of attracting your attention to a listing.

I'm wondering if characters like that affect your ranking or if they're ignored or if anyone has any idea one way or another.

Extremely unlikely to have any effect on actual placement at all, but the idea is to attract more clicks due to the stars in the title.

It is rather a gimmic than a serious strategy to be honest. This was a fad a while back and I believe some SEs stopped displaying the stars in the titles for a while. I wouldn't count on it being a useful addition.
