Google's Pending September Update

Hello People,

Have been waiting for google's pending update but didn't get any on that. From last two days I have noticed extreme changes in search results for same google domain (like .com or .de or .nl etc.) with different interface language selected (like hl=de or hl=en or hl=nl). When you change the interface language the whole bunch of results are different.

Is this the actual update this time? Enabling the geo centric data which google wanted to implement for better localization? If yes (and if someone else is also seeing this change) then may be we can all identify the parameters of this new change, like language, servers in geographical locations or extensions (.de, .nl etc.)

too many SEOs happy about 66.102.7.104, then it is likely that it won't spread...although IMHO it shows the best results...neutral impact for me though..brings back a really top quality site above me and one crappy one, currently at #2 vanishes

>>The changes which people keep talking about are changes in SERPs which are not directly related to an update, although when an update happens SERPs also change.<<

But you forgot to mention how do you identify an update (algo changes) when it takes place ;-)

Yes thanks!

Pssssssst

If you keep on saying that, the engineers will kill it at once.

Better to post that 216.239.59.103 has the worst serps you have ever seen. Then they shall keep it for sure ;-)

2nd-3rd Feb. was a sad day for my site too. Recovered gradually since. Got another killing hit on 22nd July. At present recovering gradually again.

BTW, have you since filed a reinclusion request?

Hi Folks

Honestly I still think that first phase/stage of Update Bacon Polenta has already started on 22nd Sept. Since then we have been just witnessing the remaining phases/stages. just like Borboun, you know ;-)

On 64.233.189.104 nothing is older than 11-27-04!

On the other Datacenters there are still suplemental results until February 2004.

My project has old Duplicate Content, non-www problem etc.! On 64.233.189.104 these URLs are gone and ->
No filter anymore!

Just get a feeling it is going to be 66.102.7.** Many sites that "try to influence ranks" including whitehats have gone.
The SERPs are full of sub-pages of heavyweight sites that have a oblique reference to the search term are dominating, while many smaller, yet more relevant sites have vanished. All these make searching in Google less pleasurable.

I do see them slightly older than that date - not back to Feb 04 though

Armi - when did you correct your non-www old duplicate content probs.

Did not correct mine until March - so perhaps lots of supplementals need to go for me until I see improvements.

Thats us!

Pointing to a directory (which Iv'e seen a lot of now) is like pointing to a library rather than a book in the library

Blimey - hopefully if G are reading this they will understand that the supplementals are causing problems.

I dont want to wait until October next year! - A good crawl would be nice too - Armi - did you get a good crawl recently too?

216.239.53.104 is different from 66.102.7.** and 64.233.189.104 results. The latter 2 Dcs show such SERPs, that I shudder to think may eventually hold.

The results are showing mostly national companies, directories, and large spam companies. all the little guys are gone.

The results on 64.233.189.104 bring back my site to pre Sept 22 rankings except for a few phrases and their associated pages. My speculation is that the algo filter from 9/22 was intended to catch some parameters on a site but inadvertently penalized the whole site instead (by penalize, I mean lowered the entire sites rankings).

The 64.233.189.104 type results have been showing consistently for me on google.com since last night (I'm in California). I hope it sticks.

Looking at those DCs with new/different results...

I still see all my bad supplemental pages including a phantom dup of my homepage and a canonical problem with it too...

But the homepage and several other pages are ranking well - seems like they turned off one of the penalty switches on those DCs. With my luck it was by accident and some freckle-faced kid will be brought into the office for a tongue lashing in a few minutes.

In regard to Garya's niche, I've seen some directories that charge per link go down in SERPs.

This is pretty, pretty good.

It was pretty bad when I had to pay to a "farm" directory $100 plus per year for an enhanced listing. These directory guys were getting pretty rich for doing nothing.

Well, directory guys, I hope your easy life ends soon. In the meantime, do something useful, get a copy of the book "Who moved my cheese?".

>> Well, directory guys, I hope your easy life ends soon.

first I don't do directories, but I doubt that easy, at least compared to other fields. I find it hard to judge others, when many think I have it easy. They just seem to forget that it didn't happen overnight, and that stupid mistake and I have to stay on the edge till it's fixed.
