I agree with netguy. They have to do it well before the shopping season to make sure it works out well, but there's no strong need to do anything immediately. So mid-October makes the most sense.

That's an interesting concept. ;)

My site has not been ranking well in Google since May 21st. Which means there has been no update for about 3 months. How long are the intervals between major updates in everyone's past experience?

I rank very well for image search but very bad in the regular serps!

Really soon, since my site went up in april google has always been sporatic with 30 hits here and 50 hits there. In the last few weeks since the huge increase in yahoo serps, google has had 5,000+ hits and they just keep coming. I think they want to catch up to yahoo and they aren't going to wait around to do it. I have also noticed my pages indexed has been all over the place for the last few weeks also. They usually sit steady for months it seems.

Based on Googlbot activity this month, something big is brewing. Heavy spidering continues today and with the SERPs dancing, I expect something... September 3rd.

PR/backlinks doesn't necessarily mean SERPS update.
Google Guy, how about SERPS Update, any prediction?

oh #*$!, GG is messing with us! Of course there will be an update some time in the next 3 months, if not, historical maximum of 3-4 months for google updates will have gone out the window. He hardly sharing some insider information

I'm thinking GG is saying just forget about it, knowing when it is coming, won't make any difference. we have no way of knowing when the cut off date is anyway, as to when the update is implimented so don't know when changes we do won't make a difference till the following update.

I'm betting, google will bring out an update near the END of the year to crush the good old xmas serps, and bring in the paid ads revenue.

Oh, man. Something big has just happened. All the inflated page counts for my sites that have been in Google's index for the last year seem to have gone away. I have one site that has been grey-barred for years (I have no idea why) and it is now indexed.

When I do a Site:domain.com search the highest quality pages on my sites come up to the top, which has never happened before.

I think GoogleGuy was just playing with us...

Can anyone confirm what I am seeing?

Don't I wish! But sadly site: is still showing the hugely inflated page count for my site.

Googleguy

IYO do you think that a sites position in Google directory indicates how close or how far it is from the next PR level?.

For example, lets say you are a page rank 6 site and say four page rank 6 sites list above you in the directory, then the Page rank 7s and you have say 5 page rank 6 sites listed under you, is it fair to assume that google rates your site a higher authority than the ones under you even though they are the same page rank?

lets not talk about that..
See its all about content and decent links right?.. and i am much better than my compeditors.. some are even cheating and i have reported the cheaters, nothing happens they are still there!
.. just proves... Google is too busy counting their money.. they employ these really "brainy" people only to count money!

I do think they employ these people to analyze topic related keyword densities to build some nice clusters.
