Lost Google PR after adding links

I have been working on getting some new links to my site for my client, and tonight I check on things to find that I have lost a point in my page rank. I was at 2 and now I am at 1. I am a little concerned.

Google has come 4 times today which is amost double what they have come in the past 2 weeks. They have only check out my main page. Which I have optimized to the best of my reasearch and abilities.

Any one have any suggestions. I still seem to be place the same if I do a search I even went up one place 59 out of 38000+.

I only added 2 links on my site to day on the main page. One links to my home page from the home page, and the other is to a voting site for my niche. It has a pr4 which is nice.

It sounds like you are relying on internal links. You need links coming in from other sites to affect PR.

Also there is a PR update going on. check your pr again in a few days when things settle down.

Yeah PR update is going on. Thatz why it seemed that addition of links lead to your PR downfall which might not be true. There can be other factors for the downfall. Try to find out those factors once the PR updation is over.

You need to check the number of links after you added new links not just Pagerank. Google doesn't show all backlink through link: command. You might check it from Yahoo and MSN.
