Moving our sites to a new ip Moving our sites to new ip w/o losing ranking EAHunt msg:766247 5:58 pm on Apr 8, 2005 (gmt 0) It has been forever since I have posted to Webmaster, started getting busy with software dev. Anyway, my partner hosts our "ranked #1 in google" website. We are moving our co-location for servers to new company and don't want to lose ranking. Last time we changed ips we were gone for 3 months. This would kill us, anyone got any ideas.

If it were me, I'd leave the old site where it is and create a new domain on the co-loc server. Once the new domain (hopefully with new content) is ranked, you can redirect from your old site. MHes msg:766249 3:17 pm on Apr 13, 2005 (gmt 0)
If you have to move, don't change the site or whois data. Keep everything as stable as possible.
