Bizzare number of pages returned

"site:www.mysite.com" returns less hits than "site:www.mysite.com keyword"

Who the what with the where now?

Why if a do a Google search:

site:www.mysite.com

do I get less pages returned than

site:www.mysite.com keyword

That just seeems odd...

(Only out by 2, its a small site first return: 55, second 57)

There are all kinds of oddities like that if you probe the SERPs for any site carefully. Only knowing the Google listings algorithms would be abl to answer why.

Did it say about 55 or did you count all pages returned?

Were there any "supplementary" or "omitted" results and did you count those too?
