How can a website see a huge drop in SERPs exactly one year after the site was first opened?
Is it possible that when the domain was renewed (with the same owner info) Google messed something up and now thinks the domain was expired? I think the site is suffering from the "expired domain filter". Almost all Google traffic stopped exactly 2 days after the original domain expiration date although PR stayed the same and the pages stayed in the index.
I sent Google email about this but I'm sure they think I'm one of the many webmasters just wanting better rankings.
I'm on page 5 for my site name (went from page 1 to page 15, now up to page 5). The sites above me are pages that have a link to my site or pages that have copied my title tag.
My site has been in this filter/sandbox for 3 months now so "waiting to see if it gets back in the next update" is not the answer.
The site is clean with no bad SEO tricks and plenty of good content. Googlebot visits it and updates the pages regularly. The site was never offline when it went into the filter.
I know this shouldn't happen but maybe something went wrong in the renewal process? Is there anything I can do to check it or ask my host? Would an IP address change cause something like this?
