Google won't allow my searches
says I have spyware or viruses on my network

Hey I was curious if anyone else ever got a problem like this.

I try and do a search but it says this:
We're sorry...

... but we can't process your request right now. A computer virus or spyware application is sending us automated requests, and it appears that your computer or network has been infected.

We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your computer is free of viruses and other spurious software.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google.
To continue searching, please type the characters you see below:

Then it will ask me to enter characters that are in a graphic and then click enter, but it only takes me back to the mainpage of google just to try and search all over again.

Now today we got a new static IP. Could our IP be banned or blocked by Google? I tried doing a search for viruses and spyware but I was unable to find anything.

Has anyone had this problem before? If so, what would be the best way to get this resolved?

Thanks!

Wes

It's likely a re-run of an old problem dating back to the phpBB problems at the end of last year. Have a look at [webmasterworld.com ] (Jan 16, 2005)

Have you tried accessing Google from a different IP range or ISP?

Yes actually I did do that and it worked. Also it worked this morning too on the same IP that didn't before. I noticed though it worked before I ran a program that searches google for certain keywords and finds my ranking. After I ran this program the problem started occuring again. The program is called "Free Monitor for Google". Basically it just searches for certain keywords and finds my ranking with them. I guess Google doesn't like these programs anymore because I use them everyday and the problem just started yesterday.

Weird.

I will look at that post too.

Google never "liked" these programs. See their TOS below. Check under "No Automated Querying."

It may be that you just now came on their radar screen - or that they just respond to it more quickly now. But it's been known for a long time that you can have your IP banned from google for using them.

Just Guessing
