Google using the ODP directory meta description?

Hi,

Looked at yet another update of my site this morning on google and it's actually using the description I put in the actual google directory and ignoring or so it would appear the keywords in the main body of the text. it's shown as www.mysite.co.uk then below the actual description I put in the google directory years ago. :(

Things are really getting shaken up. Anyone else got this.

As I was searching today, I noticed that Google didn't show a preview of the website's content as search result but instead it showed the META DESCRIPTION of the sites, or if they didn't have that it showed the DMOZ description of the URL.

A few minutes later it was back to normal.

Anybody else noticed this?

Ya, they do it from time-to-time. It used to be the norm for alot of cases and then they slowly dropped the odp.

Just guessing,

The google directory has a description of my site, which is quite old.

Anyway as the other chaps said it's back to normal, but i've still got a poor ranking of page 11 when I was number 1

what to do what to do
