Are we going to have one?

Could it be that we're less than a day away from the Google Valentine's day update?

There have been a few updates lately which landed on Bank Holidays. Probalbly due to less people online during these days.

I think its abit early for the Feb Update though!

Yes I agree, but these are usually within a few days or a week at tops of the expected update and not 2-3 weeks away.

Is the crawl over yet? I don't think enough time has passed for there to be an update. If the crawl is over, there's still work to be done.

I'm still being crawled by both the deepcrawler and the freshbot. I doubt there will be any full update until the end of this month. Everflux maybe.

Not yet, but it is slowing down.

Presidents Day is later in the month. That might be it.

President's Day is only 3 days from now. Too soon.

1-2 weeks is more likely.

February 24th. Flag Day. The Flag Day update. Yes, that's it. Perfect timing as far as being in line with past updates, and I'm sure Google's been itchin' to show its patriotism and solidarity with fellow US residents, especially in these days of space disasters, elevated security alerts, and whatnot. Any guesses on their special logo for flag day? (I'd bet that they're going to use the flag somehow . . .;) . . . (added minutes later) . . . except for the fact that it's Mexico's flag day . . . (slaps stoopid American forehead). OK, Mexican flag day update it is!

It's actually speed up on one of my sites, and is still attacking my vBulletin board.

I think this whole holiday theory is about as reliable as the full moon theory.

Not only is it too early for the update, it's too early for threads predicting when the update will begin. So lets hold off on them until at least the 20th.

I think this whole holiday theory is about as reliable as the full moon theory.

Is it? Or is it so sane that you just blew your mind?! (apologies to Kramer on "Seinfeld")

Halloween update, Thanksgiving update (ok, a few hours early), New Year's Day update, Superbowl Sunday update (ok, not really a holiday) . . . so, after Mexican Flag Day Update this month, there'll be Vernal Equinox Update in March (21st), a tough call between Easter Sunday in April (20th) and Administrative Professional's Day (23rd), and the no-brainer in May for Memorial Day update, and so on . . .

I guess it's a lot easier to hit a holiday than a full moon. There is some type of holiday nearly everyday. (I think today is furry robotic vampire wombats day:)

It would be good practice for google to update when traffic is at it's lowest, however, and I'm sure that they know when those days/times are.

We're more likely to update on a holiday if that holiday is a month after our previous update. ;)

GG , thanks a lot for the info :) ....

Possible Feb Update Days :-

Feb 22 - George Washington Day
Feb 23 - Tennis Day (?)
Feb 24 - Mexican Flag Day
Feb 27 - Polar Bear Day (?)

A delayed mardigras update on march is also a possibility :)

March 4 - Mardi Gras

I bet my bucks on Mexican Flag Day ....

Hey GoogleGuy, update on the 27th. A few thousand new listed links would be a great birthday gift!

After much study and statistical analysis over the past few years I have reached a thus far undisputed conclusion.

Where y><w

Probability factor of y is 1:1
Probability factor of w is 1:1

Y = 365 ╝
W = 365 ╝

Y = any day of the week ending in Y
W = any day of the week, subsequent ending in W

Hence the next Google update will commence:

Today, Tomorrow or any day of the week ending in Y

>>Feb 22 - George Washington Day
>>Feb 23 - Tennis Day (?)
>>Feb 24 - Mexican Flag Day
>>Feb 27 - Polar Bear Day (?)

I think the whole point of the "update on holiday" theory, is that there is less traffic on these days... or days like the Superbowl since it gets such a large audience.

I don't think anyone will pull themselves away from the computer on Tennis Day or Polar Bear day.

"Hey Jim, how were online sales yesterday?" .. "Kind of slow, must have been because of Polar Bear Day!" ;)
