Tigger, That is exactly what I am talking about... we have had links in DMOZ and other places with page ranks of 3 or higher, and all of a sudden our backwards links according to Google have dropped from about 290 to 48.
I noticed this too. I had a total of 8 links, all from PR4 or above pages disappear after (end of Nov) a previous dance. Still no idea why. I alos noticed in searching other sites backlinks that yahoo and dmoz listings are not being listed on the first or second page, but instead are almost dead last in the list. My yahoo link is dead last in my backwards link list. I read somewhere once the backwards links are listed in order of importance... guess that ain't so anymore.

I just had a good look at mine, (there aren't many). It appears that they're listed in order of: 1/ domain name, in title or text of backward link. 2/ occurences of <title>keywords</title> in the backward link title or text.
For me that puts the Google and Dmoz directories about halfway down the list.
