I posted the same question earlier. Why is the chche copy that Google uses so old. I worked on my site for the last 3 weeks non-stop. Guess I'll have to wait another long mont ;)

Interesting that cache for some of my pages are less than a week old (i.e. pages that I just made changes to within the last week). So far I like this update.

>I wonder if you're using SEW's KWD tool. It grossly inflates KWD (or a least it did when I last used it). It tells me my KWD is 20% when a hand count shows it to be more like 4%. The problem seems to be that it undercalculates how many words there are -- and so the apparent KWD soars. You may have a point. Depends on how you want to count, but only about half as high by how I counted.

I am seeing 665,000 backlinks for Yahoo, however all the results seem to be the same already on Google 1, 2, 3 why is this?

Danielo21, when I go to download DMOZ/ODP data, the file says it was generated 2002-09-19. That would be my best guess? We can always pick up new entries by crawling DMOZ too, I think, but doesn't look like the downloadable data has been updated recently.

| The problem seems to be that it undercalculates how many words there are -- and so the apparent KWD soars. |
| More specifically, when doing the calculation KWD = KW/W x 100 (where KW is the number of times the kewword appears and W is the total number of words excluding stop words) it doesn't include in W any word that is nor repeated. It only counts words that are on the page more than once, and so it undercounts how many words there are and consequently overestimates the KWD. Another way of putting this is that any word that is not repeated is treated as a stop word. The examples I've been stickied have around 4% KWD, while SEW's tool gives them 20% or more. Gotta go pick up my wife! Back later.

I found a number of problems on commercial categories. Result number 2 on a top spanish commercial cat is a "Access Denied" page, many big players with PR of 5/6 are out of the picture, and the Top 20 results are populated by PR 3/4 pages with very poor linking. Does any body else sees something similar?

| GG, we have 26th January here in India as our Republic Day. Would that do for this month? :)

In Spain, January 6th or Epiphany, is a national holiday when the 3 Kings bring presents to the kids. So, if we don't like this update can we have another immediately after? :)

Wow, I'm learning all sorts of holidays here. I think January 6th is a little too early. :) Jan 26th might be a little too early too, but I'm glad to know about that one! Maybe we should start making up holidays. That could be fun. Anyone know of good artists' birthdays?

Okay, I'm going to say 28th Jan for next dance as 5 painters have birthdays on that date. Or 19th as it was Paul Cezanne's birthday.

Jan : 31st Backwards Day, 29th Puzzle Day ROTFLOL, how absolutely perfect are these two - given the fretting level, the puzzlement on how things look during the update, and the reliance on checking backlinks for days in advance. GoogleGuy, whether they be real holidays or not, ya'll be missing the boat is you don't time to one of those two days. Liking what I am seeing so far. Happy New Year to all, even you folks who are already into day 2.

We could meet at GoogleGans with a special appearance by GoogleGuy passings out google hats and google pads while we all sing the google blues. Then we could create the GoogleFoo Forum to talk about all the Googlepoo. :) :) Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year Everyone
