Random Glitch - or Prelude?

Just did a few link:http://www.yahoo.com searches, and twice in a row www3 came up with no documents found. Reloads changed it back to 632k, but sure got me to thinking.

It would be an opportune time for an update.

This is off topic, perhaps it should be in a new thread, but Brett's title fits....

For a competitive keyword, I just started seeing the previous updates results on www.google.com.

Anyone else seeing this?

They might want to speed things up a bit to show Yahootomi who's taking the head lines in WebmasterWorld! :)

That's exactly what I was thinking.

In some thread or other Google Guy said the update wouldn't be happening on Christmas day, so it wouldn't seem likely that they would start now, they could always change their minds though.... :) (fingers crossed)

Whatever is going on, it's sure made a difference in the last 12 hours. I just went and did some checks regarding my NFP site there is a definite difference related to my 2nd tier kw's (first tier was already sweet spotted, and still are.)

I had just checked these yesterday so I could send in a
'where things sit' to the NFP tomorrow, so this thread got me to thinking, maybe I better look a new round first.

Glad I did. 2nd tier rising in the SERPS, snow falling outside, unless Pub Clearing House pops in with a big fat sweeps check, life don't get much better than this.

Happy holidays ya'll

Google may prefer holidays because fewer people are on the Internet then. The dance can be confusing to users because if they repeat searches, they are switching between databases and get totally different results. This happening can be minimized by doing it on a holiday.

Or it could be that they like wrecking an SEO's holiday and break away from work :)

The SERPS are totally different for all of my keywords - they've done some tweaking. They look so biased towards info sites it's sick. It looks like the beginning of the Froogle-Adwords algo - moving commercial sites down to the 3rd page, beefing up the first 2 pages with informational content. yuck.

Odd. For 2 SERPs I typically monitor, identical on all servers all the way down to position 100.

Actually, he said we shouldnīt expect them to work on Christmas eve...
... but he didnīt say anything about the day before Christmas eve ;)

I'm presuming all the real work is before the update, and then they just cross their fingers and push the button and wait. Thanksgiving didn't stop them from doing an update. Likely the computers did all the work while the Google folks were at home eating turkey.

I forgot to say:
I am also seeing some weird behaviors: several sites that I monitor are showing unstable PR (from 6 to 5 to gray to 6...)

I just got 654K backlinks on Yahoo on www3, back to 632K on the refresh.

I just got no results on www3 twice in a row, then 654,000 as well, and now it's back to normal. Everything seems to be right on the verge...
