We need to change the Google FAQ around here. I guess technically zero backlinks to www.yahoo.com is different than 657,000. However, this is an error condition. So far, no update yet.

Another odd:

Wich will be the next number of backlinks to www.yahoo.com?

680,000?

the funniest thing is that all this tension and everything was created by us at WebmasterWorld.i dont know if we all would be so (dont know english word) if we would not be participating in WebmasterWorld.:)

Just saw 0 backlink for www.google.com on www2. In the next moment it's back to normal. Must be some problem on www2. Not update.

Forgive me my stupid newbie question, but

* How do you know that WWW1,2 and 3 are totally identical?
* And is this the sign of a starting update?

Which could also be explained by the possibility that Google has just decided to adopt the policy that Wisenut had about updates for over a year a while back. ;) My guess is this is explained by what I pointed out in a thread yesterday: there aren't *any* fresh listings in Google at the moment. However, someone reported this happened once before earlier in the month, so this doesn't necessarily mean an update.

Search google for google update tool, you'll get a search tool that will let you search www, www2 amd www3 all in one go. www1 is out of action at the moment.

Since Google is only giving me 4,930 backlinks for Yahoo (and has been for the last month), I have been looking at CNN...103,000 for www, www2 and www3 at the moment, same as it has been for weeks. But I hope all that changes sometime soon. Interesting. Something must have been broken to require such a late update.

Beachboy:
You probably looking at backlinks for yahoo.com, not www.yahoo.com. They are not considered same in the Google world.

Definitely something is up. The alternate theory I can think of is some major upgrade going on. Not that things were necessarily broken, but they are adding lots of new hardware, etc.

Googleguy...

We know you like to read these messages and get a good laugh... actually its probably like a pizza party at google plex as they print these threads out and hop on the podium and read them off all laughing silly....

Feel free to clue us in .. not necessarily tell us unless you want to give us all an early christmas present :) but some nice clues and hints could be cool.. :)

Geesh, every time you guys say something about the google tool, I go check it... sure enough, it's always the same - with that godawful number...lol

Although I'm not as into this as you guys, I'd still like to get a little thrill from seeing a change like you guys....lol

He's clearly abusing his position of authority! ;)
