Have the Google partner sites updated?

 4:05 am on Sep 27, 2002 (gmt 0)

I've had this itch all day about Google and this month's update.

I'm looking at all their partners' sites and see all new stuff listed. Almost like it was a big update because it wasn't there yesterday. Sites included that were not indexed last update and I'm not talking about that "mid-month" fluctuation kind of stuff either. I just can't figure it out.

I've studied my log files all day and there has been a surge in traffic today from all Google partner sites. (ie. AOL, Earthlink, Alexa, Iwon, etc.) Even from Google themselves! I go to www.google.com and see all these new results randomly. Sometimes it is the old results, the results on the partners, and the results on the www# servers.

When I try to find these rankings on www1, www2, and www3, they just aren't there and they have NOT been there all day.

To say again, what I am seeing on the partner sites is a different update than what has been showing in the www#'s

The www# servers just seem different this time around. Lots of news stories popping up in the top 10. Irrelevant sites in the top 10. It's like wwwX has become a much larger test bed than it has been previously.

I have never seen this much shifting on the update servers before. In the past 4-5 updates, what I would see at the very beginning of update time would stick till the end. No shifting at all before. For some of you this happens but for me, never.

Look at how many people are posting about big drops in their sites. Something isn't right with the www# servers.

Like I said, I'm just studying my log files, partner sites, and Google itself. I'm seeing all new stuff that was not there before. To me it looks like the update is pretty much finished and out there.

Give some input. What are you seeing on the partner sites and Google itself?

I definitely see what you're talking about. Seems like the update already happened and www2 and 3 are off doing some weird stuff.

One thing for sure is the are defently updating harder on the fly now then they ever did before.
I think a big part of the update is on the fly, i agree with the strange result on the top ten its irrelvant in most cases. but there have never been easier to get a page in to the google this mounth, and its the on the fly update, maybe iam wrong but this mounth its have been very much new sites in the index in sweden.

I am seeing different things on different partners. Some are showing the old index and some are showing the new, or rather what is currently in www2. Seems strange as I haven't seen my <edit> *new* <edit> sites update to www yet but can find them in some of the partner sites...

"I definitely see what you're talking about. Seems like the update already happened and www2 and 3 are off doing some weird stuff. "

I hope you're right. www2/3 is the most upside down thing Google has ever shown. It must be some kind of a morbid joke(Tell us you're joking GoogleGuy):). One of my sites, with a pr5, has gone from 8th to 84th. 10 positions ahead of me is a greyed out pr page with almost no keywords in it. But that's all on w2 & 3.

One thing I noticed. The cached page on www is a later date than the one on w2&3.

My mistake - I am seeing none either as 1 site was submitted seperately to a partner. Still not seeing updated SERPS in www yet either.

There is a big partner that gets its feed from www2. Can't remember which (was it AOL?) but do a search and I'm sure something will come up.

When the index showing on aol and yahoo and iwon shows on www.google.com, there are no dates next to any sites. does this prove or disprove anything?

There is definitely something wrong with google update this month. For example, there is one site #4 for a major keyword is entirely in Japanese. I highliged to see the keyword, nothing....Title is shown like this:
And most text on the site is like this:
I thought MAYBE google picked up a translated version of the site, but all I got instead of the body text was:
The weirdest thing is that this website has nothing to do with the key word!
