I'm getting different link counts for WebmasterWorld on all three servers....

Note to mods: Please, delete if I'm wrong, I hate it when people cry wolf but I was always told the link counts were the way to tell....

I seem to be seeing a bit MORE spam in some listings. I'm seeing more ugly domain spam - things like www.keyword1-keyword2.com/keyword1-keyword2/keyword2.htm.

Also, some keyword subdomains, like keyword.domain.com/keyword/keyword.htm.

In one case, where I searched for a brand of product, the manufacturer's own site was pushed down in the listings by a bunch of doorway-looking sites. One of these obvious doorway sites has PR7 - that will be interesting to examine in more detail.

Google is also starting their crawl on a couple of our sites- pretty much at the same time the update commenced.

rogerd - are the pages you refer to full of non-sense text or are they good content pages? Much of the discussion on this forum is focussed on including keywords in directory, domain and file names in a hyphenated manner to improve relevancy to Google.

FlashRed, the pages are OK by themselves, its just that they are clearly (in most cases) leading to another, primary domain. In the past, I've seen examples of dynamic, redirecting nonsense text pages, but haven't run across any in the small keywords I checked today.

Finally I am starting to see major changes in my listings for keywords after making a bunch of changes from suggestions here at WW.

I actually got to #3 for on eof the keywords. )Thank you to all for great feedback.

Any idea when the Directory will update?

I'm noticing loads more directory listings around the top 5 results instead of pure google results - is this just during the update or has google decided to give more weight to its directory??

Im with Nell, I have moved to #1 so far for some keywords I was simply trying to get on the first page for! Hope this all stands!

Ouch. From page 4 to page 9 for one site. My backup keywords are ranking well, though.

I'm in the same DMOZ category that my competitors are in, but Google hasn't gobbled that up yet. The GoogleMOZ doesn't list my site yet. Oh well, September's only a month away. I've got more content than my competitors and google should see that with the next update.

OOOOOOOOIEEEEE!

NURSE!

front page on the 3.8 million plus single word search...from 42nd to 10th in less than 2 years...and we are still hammering the competition for most of the two word terms we went after...and in all languages other than English (except for German...and I think I'll have that nailed down again next update)

absothingiebeautiful!...I hope it finishes the update like that

Made it to #3! Only ones ahead of me are the association of our keyword and a company with horrible customer service and sales! Not bad for someone who didn't even know what a google was 6 months ago!

Our search terms are not searched a WHOLE lot, compared to gambling, or Spears, but they are huge to us

Ohh man! I'm seeing series of doorway pages all over the place. All linking to the same site. Looks like Old Inktomi under some searches.

Very few small pages made it into this update.
Most are at least 10-12K and larger.

Do you see the same thing?

Serious Spam from my end. Out of my top search terms, at least 15 out of the 30 are doorway page spam hocking everything from dating sites to more adult themed sites (and this isn't my industry) with many sitting on free servers. Hmmm... looks like a filter was removed.

Hmmm....starting yesterday, I was seeing results fluctuate on www, www2 and www3.... As it stands right now, www has different results than www2 and www3.... When people are checking their updated ranking, which server are you looking at? Could I assume/hope that the data found of www2 and www3 will eventually transfer over to www?

Hehe....my boss just called and said his phone is ringing of the hook...wants to know what I did!

I told him, "nothing really, just that we've moved to #2 for our keywords."

Let's just say that I've scored a few points with him:>)

Come on now, how can people be responding now to any Google WW2 and WW3 search results? Most people don't know that versions WW2 and WW3 even exist. Perhaps if/when those results show up in the Google, Yahoo and AOL searches but not just a day after the Google Dance has begun.

Therefore, I would be very reluctant to take credit for the phone action at this point. After answering a few of the calls your boss may learn that they are a result of someone posting his "resume" on some deviate sex forum.

Now that's something you wouldn't want to have taken prior credit for, is it?

My site got dropped last month and PR is greyed. This update, I saw my site listed in www2 and www3.

Is it a good sign that I will be in their main index again ?

Thanks.

yes davidku, it looks good for you, your site should be in www soon. It will be about 5 days before everything is settled and moved to www though.

Update gone ok for me, slight increase in most phrases....but then by the time it settles ill probably be back just about where i was....which was good anyway!

Isn't there a quite big site that uses www2 for its results. Could be that they are getting them from there, and also, doesn't the results sometimes appear on www throughout the dance?

Anybody know when google updates the PR of a site?

If the phone's ringing off the hook at this point in time, my money's on the "resume" posting. ;)

Strange, my site was dropped last month. It now appears in www but not www2 or 3. My sites that were in the index last month also appear in www but not in www2 or 3.

A glitch?

I have been following Google's PR for months now and it does tend to change from time to time. Some days it's 6 for my site and others it's 4 or 5. Don't stress out to much about it. Personally I think the PR needs some fine tuning. There are plenty of sites that have nothing to do with the topic you are searching and yet that are near the top of the search results. Hopefully Google will get a better handle on this. My point, don't get to worked up, at times it's out of our control.
