I think you need to start expanding your referral base ASAP. Whether or not you have a problem with this index, depending on one search engine for 95% of your traffic is not a good business strategy. You're not getting "too much" from Google - you aren't getting enough from anyone else.

Our site too gets about 90% from Google and Google powered searches, we do get traffic from all major engines and directories, but it is nothing compared to Google. We do rely on Google but trends for search usage and mergers with the likes of AOL and many more make it ever more difficult to not rely on Google. There is no point being top rated on a search engine that nobody uses. I am sure that the subject matter does play a big part in which search engine people choose to use, if you want mp3's you would be unlikely to search on Google, maybe Kazaa.

I've been monitoring our site since the dance began, and we have picked up some ground. We are in an extremely competitive area though, so we may not do much better until we can get our site in the right category in DMOZ. :( It's important because that category provides a "gazillion" links. Been trying for months - can't give up now!

zeus i heard that from many people it hit also one site of mine. maybe a new spam filter?
the sites are still in the index (site:mysite.com +com) and have some pagerank
12:25 am on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
www, www2, and www3 are showing old results... I know the dance is still happening but I haven't noticed all three showing the same "old" results at the same time before...
12:29 am on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
I thought they were the same too on all three but there are some differences on where things hit. I would assume they are still in the middle of shaking things out. I'd be just as happy if they dumped this update and started over. ;)
2:43 am on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
For the last couple of hours I've been seeing new results on www2 and www3, but old results on www.
Things will settle down eventually!
3:32 am on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
This is the longest thread I've seen in awhile concering an update. So much speculation it makes my brain hurt. I think I'm going to stay out of here till the update is over. ;)
6:35 am on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)

Any word on when the www3 will show up on regular google?
3:01 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
I am still seeing diffs on www2 and www3 that are not on www. I'm assuming the concencus thinks the dance is still underway right now?
3:31 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
Got crawled by Google. They took a picture of my home page image??? #1 on key word search Monday.
No long appear in Google today!!!
3:33 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
If it's a new listing it will drop in and out until the next update, probably.
3:54 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
I saw myself in www2 and www3 last night - today not the case - does this mean Im probably gonna make it in this current update? Thanks alot
3:55 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
What roll does DMOZ play with Google?
4:06 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
My new content appeared, disappeared, some of it reappeared - now my external links are gone. So, I'm just observing now so I'll know what to expect next time (maybe).
5:48 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
Ya, the past 3 updates have opopped all my newer sites in and out of the index, There one month then gone the next then back again now gone..I think they've just run out of harddrive space
5:50 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
I'm still pretty new to ogling the google dance. We are coming up on 3 full days since it began. How much longer will it typically take?
5:58 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
It generally takes a week or so to finally settle down.
9:43 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
I'm seeing grey on the toolbar. Is it me in trouble, or is it just flickering in and out?
9:55 pm on Jun 26, 2002 (gmt 0)
It's been flickering somewhat on some sites I've looked at today. Goes away, comes back....
1:07 am on Jun 27, 2002 (gmt 0)
How many people think that the page rank you see in your cached page will be the page rank you receive when google finishes her dance?
1:20 am on Jun 27, 2002 (gmt 0)
dont expect to see google settle for like 2 weeks its crazy that will make it 2 months for most sites
1:53 am on Jun 27, 2002 (gmt 0)
Google is taking a little while to roll out the www datacentres this update... sj is the only one I can see with the new index..
note : zu was also updated with the new index before that strange mini rollback happened.
2:14 am on Jun 27, 2002 (gmt 0)
this time i hear it will take over 4 weeks its a real shame but again thats what happenes when a company grows to big too fast
2:17 am on Jun 27, 2002 (gmt 0)
hmm... where did you hear that?
if its a reliable source maybe google are trying to move towards some sort of rolling update structure...
2:36 am on Jun 27, 2002 (gmt 0)
i think its a reliable place
google is concentrating on their paid business and have grown quick but they can still be kicked out trust me
its a shame the effort we all put in will go nowhere
2:55 am on Jun 27, 2002 (gmt 0)
>its a shame the effort we all put in will go nowhere
Yes, it is a shame for the people who haven't achieved their goals yet, but there's always next month. That's something people get used to. And of course others have seen triumph with this update, for them it was time well spent. So the old saying is still true, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
