I am seeing updated results on 216.239.39.104.

These were also visible for a short time yesterday on Google UK.

Is there an update in progress?

Does anyone else see any change?

Hi all,

Title says it well. Google seems to be adjusting the backlinks count on different datacenters. ;)

Yes, I see the update on that IP. Looks like somethings going on...

I do hope that backlinks will be updated, it should give me a much needed SEPRS boost :)

Backlinks have updated for me, nice jump too.

I just saw this jump about 3 minutes ago on google.com, now they are gone.

I did check 216.239.39.104 and they are still there.

backlinks for my site dropped from 1180 to 437

Also related:command shows a large shift in types of sites

Finally, serps changed too, many garbage sites in spots 1-10 for 2.5 million finance keyword

Something's going on...
Using the toolbar to go to Google Directory listings returns:
"Not found
The requested category could not be found. Go to Google Directory Home"

Clicking on the link to [directory.google.co.uk...] displays the same Not Found message...

[NB. This is from the UK]

*Sorry* Just seem similar post appear above.

Ah...

I just looked on Google.co.uk and it shows a Load of new backlinks, that ive had for a while but never shown...

You think this is to take a dig back at Yahoo! Because webmaster's were annoyed to say the least about the back links?

Something to think about.... Or getting ready for MSN?

Rj

Edit: I did see a **slight*** change in serps on the google.co.uk a few nights ago maybe this is the effect?

When I did see the backlink change it looked familar. It was the same backlink count I had 6 or 7 weeks ago.
So maybe they are just switching between the current and an older set of data.
Anyone else notice that?

Not for me.
I have seen a fairly substantial jump in reported links.

A LOT more than I have ever seen in the past for this particular site.

Somewhere around an 800% increase.

We must remember that Google doesn't show all backlinks or the correct number. It might show 1000 backlinks one month and 50 the next.

With that said, I am seeing links listed that were added within the past 2-3 weeks which I haven't seen there before.

Same do evil backlink gibberish. Google Directory coming upo fine for me, although it is updated with bungled PR again.

Sometimes you just have to feel sorry for Google. They have such a complete mess on their hands.

I don't know what other people are seeing but at the IP Address given earlier I am seeing very new backlinks. Like less than 1 month old and a much more comprehensive list. This is very new for me!

Still we don't know whether Google's just choosing to shows us more information or actually taking them into account earlier...

Backlinks have changed for one of my sites. But both the old and new backlinks showing are just a different set of insignificant ones. Backlinks like decent PR Yahoo and ODP directory cats are missing, along with PR5 links from sites on the same topic. However, things like my URL appearing on random message boards, etc. are there. The site ranks well and has good PR, so these missing backlinks must be counting. It is like Google intentionally has sabotaged the link: command to make it worthless.

Random list of useless backlinks continue.

However useless they may, is my site under dock, since Google doesn't show a single backlink. Prior to this update it showed 100+ backlinks. Could the recent 301 to www from without www, have caused any problems?

McMohan, It is most likely your 301 redirect that is causing problems. I had to do a 301 redirect before the last backlink update. After that update I lost all of my backlinks for both sites. Finally a month later I have some backlinks for my new site.

Why do people still think the SERPS change with the backlinks. It hasn't happened that way for a long time.

They change all through the month and then when ever they fell like it, they change the backlinks and PR.

Time to get over it, it don't happen that way anymore!
