No - I don't think it was.
Can you give us a generic example that produces that result?
Wish I could. When I posted, it was doing it for almost every search I performed. Now I can't see any.
By last night, it was only doing it for about 10% of my searches.
Right above the serps, there was 4 little colored balls to the left, and next to it it read:
"IMAGE RESULTS FOR "KEYWORD".
I guess they were trying to promote their image search, kind of like when they started sticking Froogle links above the serps.
Did you click on the link?
Was it something different than the
Tip: Looking for pictures? Try Google Images
text you get when serching for lkajsdsdfal images?
It would be fun to see Google present SERPs as screen dumps á la Alexa (I've seen MSN referrals from such result pages but never actually found the form to do those searches, then, I rarely use MSN Search).
No, it was nothing new. It was just the same as if you hit the IMAGES tab up top.
They just put a little logo next to it and stuck it right above the serps.
I wish I had gotten a screen capture of it. I just assumed everyone was seeing it.
You know us; we're always testing out different little UI changes..
Hi GG, we tend to think so, but would really like to know you better... ;-)
GoogleGuy, good to hear from you!
Oh, so I wasn't crazy? I really did see that image search thing?
<GoogleGuy waves hands in a mysterious fashion>Um, no, you didn't see that.</handwave>
Actually, I'm not aware of a particular test like that. But it wouldn't surprise me if someone was trying it. :)
